Welcome to the Office of Staff Development
Greetings
It is the pleasure of the personnel in the Office of Staff Development to provide support and training to the 2900+ certificated and classified staff.  The purpose of the Office of Staff Development is to support the District Strategic Plan, the MEP Curriculum cycle and all local, state and federal mandates.  MPS Policy and Rule 6400, 6401 and 6401.1 outline the purpose, responsiblity and components of district staff development.

For numerous years, Millard Public School Strategic Plans have called for increased professional development.  The most recent Curriculum Management Audit (CMA 2007) continues its original recommendation of providing and evaluating systematic and consistent staff development on student needs.

Research indicates that one of the greatest factors that contribute to increased student achievement is teacher quality.  The role of professional development support is critical in improving instructional practices.  Job-embedded professional learning has proven to be the most effective staff development.  The National Staff Development Council has established content, process and context standards that serve as a guide to the MIllard Public School Office of Staff Development. (NSDC Standards & Resolutions)

Better and Better is Millard's online registration system that all 2900+ staff memebers can access to search, register, and track their professional development experience in MIllard.

In addition to professional development, the Certificated Staff Evaluation Process is supported by the Office of Staff Development.  The Millard Instructional Model, which is the backbone of the evaluation system, promotes instructional best practices that are research based and data driven.

Staff are encouraged to review the MIllard Public Schools Intranet Site for a wealth of information and documents regarding ANGEL, Annual MPS Required Staff Development, Application for Funds, Building Staff Development Facilitators, Classified Staff Information, Reaching Each Student (Culturally Responsive Teaching), Differentiation, Gallup Strengths, Graduate Courses, Mentor Information, NBPTS, PLC, Staff Evaluation, etc.
